Lawrence, September 15th, An iifluential protp-cung association was formed here last night at a large meeting. Mr E. Herbert was elected president, Mr A. Ferguson secretary, and Mr J. Harrop trea surer. The object cf the association is to obtain and prospect with a diamond-drill-
Tapanui, September 17th. Captain Mackenzie has been requested to stand for Mataura, and will do so. Mr Pyko will contest Dunstan, and in all probability Mr J. F. Herbert will scand in the squatting interest. Mr J. A. Moonoy, Mayor of Tapanui, is also a likely candidate.
Fortbose, September 16th. A child seven months old waß found by its mother, Mrs Thomas Chennds, of the Toi-Tois Hotel, dead by her side when she awoke at about 630 this morning. The body evidences good nourishment. The cause of death is unknown.
