The clipper ship Invercargill blocked off her hatches yesterday, and completed preparations for sea. She is expected to sail this afternoon, and has the following cargo on board:— 6o6 bales wool, 110 bales rabbitskins, 7 bales sheepskins, 632 bags wheat, 8759 bags oats, 2C5 casks, 4 tanks, 300 sacks oatmeal, 1074 cases, 2 casks preserved meats, 4026 sacks barley, 50 bales leather, 93 casks pelts, 241 cases tin, 2 casks sealskins, 75 pkgs sundries. The ship is in splendid trim, and we wish our old friend Captain Muir a speedy and successful passage Home.

The last pile of the new pier at Port Chalmers was driven yesterday afternoon, in the presence of his Worship the Mayor and several other gentlemen. The work has been carried vigorously on by the contractors, and in the course of a few weeks we hope to see the ocean-going steamers of the Union Company and other vessels moored there.
