WasteLands Board.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board was held in the Board's office, Government Buildings, on Wednesday. Present— Messrs Maitland (commissioner), Clark, Bastings, Green, Bradshaw, and Ucevcs. The following 1 business was transacted :— WAIKOUAITI. A letter was received from the Clerk of the Waikouaiti County Council requesting- the Board to reserve 4 acres 30 poles of section 7, block XII, Rock and Pillar district, for quarrying purposes. The Board agreed to recommend the Government to make the reserve.

KYEBURX. Joseph Creighton, in reply to the Board's request that he should show cause why his lease should not be forfeited, wrote that ho had occupied his deferred-pay-ment section 7, block 11, Kyeburn, and otherwise fulfilled the conditions of occupation.— The letter was read, but no motion made on it.

KAITAXGATA. A letter from the Clerk of the Kaitangata Road Board was received, stating that the purpose for which section 2, block 111, Riverside, was asked to be reserved, was to enable the Board to construct a road through it above flood-water mark.— lt was agreed that the Road Board should be requested to forward a survey of the road, and that on this being done the road-line should be recorded. MABRBWHRNUA. The Chairman of the Maerewhenua Mining Association complained that certain trespasses had been committed on the mining reserve, and asked that action should be taken against the parties. A report from Ranger Valpy on the matter stated that there was but little cause for complaint.— After consideration it was resolved—" That the Board is not in possession of sufficient evidence at present to wairant any action." LAUDKR. The certificate of application of Michael Sammon for gold-mining lease over section 8, block VII, Lander, was approved. AGRICULTURAL LEASES. Certificates of application for agricultural leases wore approved as follows :— Alfred Clarice, sections 37 and 41, block 111, Cromwell ; Gcorjjc Murdoch, section 2, block X, Maniototo ; S. A. Lowih, sections 30 and 33, block 111, Blackstone ; Samuel Waddcll, section 2G, block 111, Blackstone; George Beer, section 7, block VI, Mid-Wakatipu. The Board, in consequence of tho persons referred to already holding nearly the areas they were entitled to hold under agricultural lease, disallowed the certificates of application made on behalf of James Parks (section 2, block IV, Leaning Rock), and James M'Arthur (section 3, block VI, Leaning Rock). The certificate of application of F. V. Reichelt for section 14, block VII, Waihemo, was cancelled on the application of the holder. Applications to purchase under agricultural lease by the following persons wore approved :— D. H. Mervyn, sections 22 and 24, block I, Teviot; J. O. M'Ardell, section 1, block I, Kawurau. An application to exchange an agricultural lease for a deferred-payment license was made by Kevin Claffey (sections 36, 37, and 38, block I, Highlay district), and granted. KAWAUAU. Messrs Connell and Moodie (on behalf of E. A. Dooley) applied for a license of section 16, block 111, Kawarau.— Adjourned for 14 days. WAREPA. The Board declared the license of section 26, block IX, Warepa district, to be forfeited for non-fulfilment of conditions of occupation, no reply having been received from the licensee within the specified time ; the land to be reopened for application. DEFERRED-PAYMENT PASTORAL LANDS. Licenses were allowed to issue to the following persons for deferred-payment pastoral land :— Robert Tubman, section 15, block X, Teviot; and James Philip, section 16, block XI, Table Hill.
