BLUESKIN PLOUGHING SOCIETY.
The annual general meeting of the Blueskin Ploughing Society was held at the Saratoga House on Friday evening the 28th, there being but a small attendanoe of settlors interested in ploughing- matches. Mr John Doig having- been voted to the chair, the Secretary read the minutes of the last meeting-, which were confirmed. Tho Treasurer then produced the book containing the annual statement of accounts, from which it appeared that the receipts connected with the last match amounted to £24] 9s 3d, and the expenditure to £23 12s Od— leaving a balance of £1 0s Gd to the credit of the Society. In addition there had been special prizes paid away to the value of £20, exclusive of Mr P. C. Neill's cup, which was still being competed for annually. It was resolved that the Chairman should sign the statement, which he did. Messrs K. B. Ferguson, J. Doig, W. Pullar, J. Wather&ton, E. Roger, J. Colehan, E. Johnson, J. Marshall, G. Charlton, D. Jackson, T. Brown, J. Wright, D. Martin, and S. Carey were appointed the Committee for the ensuing year; five to form a quorum.
The Secretary was instructed to issue notices soliciting- applications from settlers having land suitable for holding- the next match on ; such applications to be lodged with him at the Saratoga House not later than Thursday, the 3rd of June.
A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Watherston, Coleban, Wright, and Ferguson, was appointed to view the allotments offered ; such Committee to meet on the 4th of June, and report to a committee meeting to be held that night as to the most suitable piece of ground.
