I am informed, but too late for publication last week, that sinoe the accession to the Mayoralty of Mr Norman Wood, a decided improvement has taken place not only in the espnt de corps of the Counoil, but also in the liberal views recently adopted, especially with reference to the

road question, Plans and estimates, it appears, have been prepared with the view of levelling and widening the road between Ravensbourne and Sawyers' Bay, and without prison labour.
