RAILWAY TRAFFIC RETURNS.
The following is a comparative statement of the traffic returns on the Ckristchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill section for the four weeks ending March 31st, 1880 :—
The following are the Hospital returns for the past week:— Remaining from previous week, 114 ; admitted, 9 ; discharged, 17 ; total number remaining. 111. The following was the state cf Iler Majesty's Gaol, Dunedin, for the week ending 22r.d May, 1880 :— Awaiting j trial, 94 males ; Penal servitude, 31 males, 3 females ; Hard labour, 61 males, 22 females ; Imprisonment, 1 male j Imprisonment (default of bail), 48 males; total, 230 males, 25 females. Received during the week, 10 males, 2 females; Discharged, 3 males, 1 female.
