VITAL STATISTICS.

The following are the vital statistics for the month of April, 1880 :—

Births in the above boroughs amounted to 510 against 489 in March, being an increase of 21 ; the deaths amounted to 179 in April, showing a decrease of 36 on the number registered in February. Of the above deaths, males contributed 94, females 85 ; 90 of the_ deaths were of children under five years, being 50*28 per cent, of the whole number ; 67 of these children were under one year of age.
