Monday's Coursing.

The meeting of the above Coursing Club was continued on Monday at Tokomairiro. The weather was glorious, but the sport was somewhat slow — certainly not owing to the scarcity of hares, for there were two or three in every paddock ; but more than half of those started did not Bfford courses. It would scarcely be fair to blame anyone for thie, for all were doing their best to provide spore, although opinions might differ as to the mode in which it was gone about. The ground coursed over was upon the farms of Messrs Murray and Corsan, to the west of CJarWille. Early in the morning five courses were got off pretty pharply, but things then lagged. Preceeding* began by Mr Daley's Idle Girl disposing of Mr Cameron's Robert without much trouble ; and this was quickly followed by Guy beating Darkie, rather to the surprise of some of the knowing ones. Justinian, a well-bred youngster belonging to Mr Bannatyne, of Waihola, did all the work in his course with Mr Duthie's well-known Briton, who made a name for himself in former seasons. Shoo My, nominated by Mr Daley, dreßsed down Mr Dodson's Sea Lad ; and Luffra, a bitch that ran in Mr M'Donald's name last ecasoD, bad little difficulty with Spot. Cain and M'Grath were the last to meet in the first round, arid the two had a very pretty course, but short, Cain scoring considerably ovtr his muchfancied opponent. The first round therefore concluded as fellows :—

Mr Daley's r b Idle Girl beat Mr Cameron's brdle d Robert

Mr G. Coombe's bl d Guy beat Mr J. Waters' b d Darkie

Mr Bannatyne's w and f d Justinian beat Mr J. A Duthie's w and r d Briton

Mr Daley's r b Shoo Fly beat Mr Dodson's r d Sea Lad Mr J. Daniels (ns) bl and w b Luffra beat Mr George's b and w d Spot Mr Harper's w and blk d Cain beat Mr George's f and w d M'Grath.

FIEST TIES. Sly and Sea Lass were the first two to meet, and they had a most harassing afternoon. They were slipped some five times before a course resulted, In one of tho "no courses," Sea Lass never sighting, Sly had a long run up hill that it was expected would almost put her out of ifc when the two came to a contest ; bufc, on the contrary, she showed up the black bitch greatly, scoring from Btart to finish, and in sporting phrase, "running rings round" her ooponent. The only other of the first ties got off was that between Scalding Water and Wheel of Fortune. The course was a short one, and hardly a satisfactory one, but Mr Duthie's pup unquestionably did the most work while it lasted, aud to him went the judge's award. Billiards and Luna were in the slips at dusk. The following were the first ties run off : —

Mr A. M'Laron's brd b Sly beat Mr Dodson's blk b Sea Lass Mr J. A. Duthie's w and r b Wheel of Fortune beat Mr Draper's blk b Scalding Water.
