London, May 4th. Five per cant. JSew Zealand loan, 1889, 107. At the wool sale to-day 12,900 bales were offered, making a total of 151,500 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the market was quieter : for washed crossbreds 3d lower, and greasy crosabreds 2d lower.
Tho University of Glasgow has conferred an honorary degree on the Hon. Thos. Mcllraith,M c llraith, Colonial Secretary Queensland.
The Right Hon. Robert Lowe has beee raised to the peerage.
