EDUCATION BOARD.

A spfioial meeting of the Education Board wa3 held yesterday. The members present were— Messrs J. Green (in the chair), M. Praer, H. Clark, A, C Begg, K. Ramsay, W. Elder, and Professor Shand. The following business was transacted : — ELECTION OF MEMBERS. The returns from school committees of the voting in regard to the election of three members of the Board in room of Messrs "Fulton, Clark, and Bastings (retiring), were laid upon the table. The result of the voting was : — James Fulton . . . . . . 100 Henry Clark .. .. ..106 Thomas Fergus .. .. ..64 Edward Bowes Cargill . . . . 30 William D. Morrison . . . . 28 Samuel E. Shrimski 1. , . . 24 Adam D. Johnston On the motion of Mr Fkaer, seconded by Professor Shand, Messrs Fulton, Clark, and Fergus were declared duly elected. The scarcity of water in the city has now reached such a point that the Corporation has decided upon cutting off the supply for machinery purposes, and the regulation 24 hours' notice of their intention to do so has been issued to the townspeople interested. There waa loud grumbling on the part of some of the O juncillora ah the meeting on Tuesday with regard to tho Silveivtreana scheme. Practical men, it was nfc.jted, expressed the opinion that during the winter a blip so serious as to bring a whole hill bodily down, would take plare at one portion of the race, and it was afssrted that ia dry weather, as at present, the loss from leakage along the course of the race would be so great as to necessitate large lengths of pipit)?, ere any dependence could be placed upon a full supply.
