MINING NOTES.

Mr J. F. Watson reports for the week ending 3rd March :— Business during tho week has been brisk. Macetown.— The Gladstone Company will finish up washing about the end of tho week, and a cake about 300oz is expected. The Homeward-Bound Company is crashing, and tho mine is looking well. The Ladye Fare Company is excavating a new paddock, and the stone looks well. The Tipperary Company's mino is in full working order. Reefton.— The Keep-it-Dark Company's amalgam for the week was 4450z from 180 tons stone ; gold for the month, 3690z ; dividend declared, 6d, which will leave a balance of about £400 to £500 to the reserve fund. The Energetic Company's yield of retorted gold for the month, 4050z. Tho Just-iu-Time Company's crashing not yet reported. The Wealth of Nations Company are now crushing from the Independent lease, and tho stone looks favourably. Keep-it-Dark, 16s 6d ; Welcome, 38s ; Golden Troasure, 4s ; Cromwclls, 365 ; Gladstones, Ids ; Tippcrary, £25 ; Homeward-Bound, 4s 9d ; Ladye Fayro, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; Longwood (Printz's claim), lls Cd ; Geelong, 10s.

Messrs Cargills, Gidbs, and Co. yesterday morning received the following telegram from Messrs Ilelmulh Schwartze and Co., London, dated Ist March :— "Mar kot is higher. Prices for fleece and grease wool average 2d per lb higher, for crossbred and scoured 3d per lb higher, than at the close of last series. Next scries will coinmenco on 20th April. The quantity of new arrivals to be included in this series is limited to 350,000 bales, whether this figure is reached before or after the commencement of the sales,"
