NEW SOUTH WALES INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION.

The judges appointed by the Exhibition Commissioners report that nearly three-quar-ters of the work of judging U gone through; The whole of the judges' reports will be ready within three weeks. The following New Zealand awards have been made, Bubject to appeals that may be made to the Committee on judging and awards :—: —
GRAIN AND OTHER. CEREALS. — NEW ZEALAND.
Peter M'Gill, Otago, wheat (Tuscan), pure uniform sample, excellent quality, Ist; Mercantile Agency Company, wheat (white Tuscan), fine milling, 661bs, 2nd; P. Cunningham and Co., Christchurch, wheat (Tuscan), clear, good serviceable wheat, 62£lbs, 3rd ; Holdway Bros., Nelson, wheat, large grain, well matured, fair milling quality, 4th. P. Cunningham and Co., oats (Tartarian), very good seed, Ist; J. and T. Meek, Oamaru, oats (short), prime feed, Ist; J. and T. Meek, oats (black Tartarian), very good seed, Ist ; J. and T. Meek oats, (Danish), good seed, 2nd ; Roj'se, Stead, and Co., Dunedin, oats (long Tartarian), good, 2nd ; Mercantile Co., oat 3 (barley), fair feed, 2rd ; Job Pile, Masterton, oats (black Tartarian), fair, 3rd ; P. Harley and Sons, Nelson, barley (malting), excellent, deserving special notice, Ist; Fell Bros and Co., Blenheim, barley (malting), full grain, but not good colour, 2nd; P. Cunningham and Co., barley (flathead), good grain, but not good colour, 3rd ; Mercantile Agency Company, barley (Chevalier), fair, 4th ; E. H. Banks, barley, sound, good colour, sth. Judges' special note : " The judges are of opinion that in grain and other cereals the following Colonies excel in their respective cereals, viz. : — Wheat, South Australia ; malting barley and oats, New Zealand ; Cape barley, Tasmania ; maize aud rye, New South Wales."
LEGUMINOUS PLANTS, SEEDS, &C. — NEW ZEALAND. Duncan and Sons, Christchurch, seeds.— All the seeds were of very high quality. The best general exhibition in the New Zealand court for general farming purposes. On experimenting, 18 per cent, failed. Should rank as second.
P. Cunningham and Co., Christchurch, seeds (four samples). — Peas and beans first-class. Of a sample of rye-grass experimented on, 12 per cent, failed to germinate. As a whole, should rank as third.
E. H. Banks, Christchurch, seeds (eight samples). Fair quality throughout, with the exception of Prussian blue peas, which are inferior to other similar exhibits in the same court. The exhibits as a whole should rank as fourth.
Joe Dransfield, Wellington, grass seed. As grasses, the best seed in the court ; most suitable for a fanning and pastoral country. On experimenting with ryegrass seed, 26 per cent, failed. The exhibits should rank as first.
Mrs Eyles, Richmond, Nelson, grass seed. Good Baniple of grass. Commended. Charles Haynes, Palmerston, Otago^ — Ryegrass seed only, 2nd. Captain Russell, Paranui, Hawke's Bay— Ryegrass seed only, 3rd. Note.—" The best and most comprehensive exhibit, having due regard to quality, variety, utility, and adaptation to public wants, is Dransficld's 16 samples of seeds, though the worst in germination. Duncan's eight samples come next, and are second in germination. Cunningham's, although very fine seed, does not compare in variety with these ; we would place it 3rd, although having best results in germinating tests."
Judges' Special Note. — "For places in the whole Exhibition we decide as follows : — No. 1, Villemorin, French court ; No. 2, MThcrson, Queensland ; No. 3, Tumor, Queensland; No. 4, Dransfield, New Zealand ; No. ilj, Germany ; No. 5, Austria ; No. 5.V, Germans' ; No. 6, Carter, Great Britain." HOPS AND MAM.—N EW ZEALAND. Richard Andrew, Nelson, hops ; well grown, fine aromatic flavour, good colour and condition ; 2nd. T. H. Harley, Nelson, hops; well-grown, rich a\ our, and fine condition ; 3rd. J. and "W. Witty, Waimca, hops ; good colour, fine aromatic aroma and condition. Surman and Co., Invercavgill, malt; good quality and colo\ir and fair fermenting power ; 3rd. COFI'IIB AND COFKBB IJEAKS.— MJW ZEALAND. David Stranqf, Invcrcargill, ground coffee, fair quality, 3rd ; Gregg and Co., Dunedin, coffee, wanting in flavour, 4th. The judges report that tho Ceylon and Indian coffees are disappointing 1 samples. The Ceylon and Madras teas aye excellent. CONDIMENTS, TjTC— NEW ZE VLAND. Trent Bros., Christchurch, ground pepper, 2nd ; David Strany, Invereargill, ground popper, 3rd ; E. 11. Crease, 'Wellington, ground spices, 4th. ANIMAL PRODUCTS. — STAY ZEALAND. M'Donald and Miller, Duned'n, bacon, best in its class, Ist; Charles Blake and Son, Picton, hiijhly desirable on account of quality, condition, and freshness, Ist ; Edward Shccdy, Dunedin, hams superior to the rest of the exhibits, 2nd. The Sydney Meat Preserving Company take first prize for corned beef, compressed beef, sheep's tongues, Licbii|''s extract, corned mutton, spiced beef — their exhibits being of very superior quality.
