Waste Lan ds Board.
Tho weekly meeting of the O.ago Land Board was held on Wednesday. Present— Messr3 J. P. Maitland (chairman) H. Bastings, H Clark, J. B. Bradshaw, J. Green, and C, S. Reeves.
After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and confirmed, the following business was considered : —
DEFERRED-PAYMENT LEASES,
Ranger Campbell reported on tbe following applications for deferred-payment leases under clause 54. He recommended they should be granted, the conditions having been complied with :— Samuel Rogers, Bection 6, block 11, Slopedown ; James Smith, section 2, block IX, Glenkenich. — The report was approved.
REDUCTION IN PRICE OF LAND.
Messrs Kenyon and Hosking, on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Company (Limited), applied for a reduction in the price of 560 acres on Run 463, granted by the Board on Augußt 27th, 1873.— Approved, applicant to be allowed to complete purchase at 20.3.
APPLICATION TO PURCHASE.
George Walker applied to be allowed to purchase section 1, block 111, Liuder district, at 20j per acre, the land having been put up to auction and passed in.— lt was agreed that unsold flections in block I, Tiger Hill district, and block 111, Lauder district, previously offered at auction at 20s, be advertised as open for application at 20a.
OTAKIA,
Ranger Valpy reported on the application of William Pine to purchase section 3 of 20, block IV, Otakia district. He recommended that it should be sold at L 3 per acre, with L2O valuation for improvements thereon. — Application declined, the Board not considering it advisable to offer the Jand for sale at present.
CLASSIFICATION OF SECTIONS.
The Board considered the advisability of classifying the undermentioned sections in the township of Bastings as deferred-payment lands :— Sections 30 and 31, block I ; sections 5, 6, 10, and 11, block II ; 11, 26 to 29, 30 and 31, block III; 58 and 59, block V— the said township not being any louger required for railway purposes. — The Board decided that one-third of the sections in Bastings, except those marked off aa suburban deferred payments, Bhould be offered for sale as soon as convenient.
CROWN TERRACE HUNDRED.
The Chief Combiissioner suggested that the unsold land in the Crown Terrace Hundred, recemly auctioned at 20s per acre, be offered for application at that amount. — The suggestion was adopted.
CBOOKSTON.
The Board considered Mr M'Kellai'd application for 440 acres on Run 163, withheld from sale pending the construction of the Tapanui railway line, and now numbered section 2, block X, Crookston. — After discussion it waa decided that the land ia question should be offered for sale by auction at 2Ls per acre as land of Bpecial value from proximity to constructed line of railway. APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR DEFERRED PAT-
MENT LAND.
The following application wera made for liotnses for deferred-payment land : — P. Denenny, spction 6, block X, Maniototo district j N. Y. Cunningham, section 35, block X, Glenkenicb. — Denonny's application was approved, but Cunningham, having previously selected, could not be allowed to do so again.
Mr D. Barron applied to purchase a small piece of town land situated between sections 12 and 41, block 11, Naseby town.— Applicant to be allowed to purchase the land under section 164 of the Land Act, 1877, the District Land Officer to be appointed appraiser and requested to value the land.
APPLICATION TO EXCHANGE.
The following application was irade to purchase under exchange license :— Joseph Maher and Jamea P. Hill, sections 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 66 to 68, block I, Wendon district.—Application approved.
REMOVAL OF GHAVEL AT WAIHOLA.
Ranger Hugban reported on complaints by residents at Waiaola against parson* removing gravel from the beach at Wa<hola Lak-) an Waihola Place, stating that very little gravel ia being taken from the apofc retoriei to. »ni that no damage had been done ; tileo letter from W. Duff, protesting .against removal of gravel.— The Commissioner wa=» requested to take sieps to prevent gravel being taken from Waihola Place, as requested by the memorialists.

NEW TIMBER REGULATIONS,
The Chief Commissioner laid on the table the new Timber Regulations for the Otago Land District.— The regulations were approved, and the Chief Commissioner requested to submit the same to the solicitor of the Board, with the view of finding whether they could be enforced.
RUN NO. 75.
The Chief Commissioner laid before the Board plans of surveyd of land on Run No. 75, Hindon, and suggested that the following lots were most suitable to be opened on deferred payments, viz.:— Sections 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, block III ; sections 3, 4, 5, and 6, block VI, Mount Hyde district ; the remainder on immediate payments, to be temporarily withheld from sale pending construction of new road. Also suggesting that Run 75 be proclaimed a hundred. — The plans were approved, and it was decided to ask the Government to set apart sectioßß mentioned for sale on deferred payments, and to proclaim land within Run 75 a hundred ; the balance of the land not recommended to be opened for deferred payment to be opened for application at 20s per acre.
