SPECIAL TELEGRAMS.
(from our own correspondent.) Wellington, February 24th. The latest telegrams revived by the Government from the Waitnate Plains report t*>e continued favourable attitude of the Natives. Titokowaru and Kokeri this morning sent a very handsome present of potatoes (fome 90 kits), peaches, ami geere. Expressions of friendship and goodwill are received from the Maoris in all directions, snd matters generally look very hopeful. To Whili and Tohn have sent still more valuable presents of pi.^s, get sa, potatoes, peaches, cabbages', and a live lat hullook rendy for slaughtering. The Evening Post's special correppondent at H&wera telegraphs to-day as follows :—": — " About 50 Maoris turned up this morning btforo the Commission. Tbeee will occupy the O urfc at Uait a couple ff days. The other N^'ives at'o expected to-morrow or next day. As the Natives havo attecded so promptly, the business of the silting hore will most likely ba ponoluded this week, # though it was originally thought a fortnight would be required.
