BLUESKIN ROAD DISTRICT.

The usual monthly meeting of the Blueskin Road Board was held on the Ist inst. Members present : Messrs Quayle (chairman), Martin, M'Lachlan, Young, and Laing. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed, The correspondence was read : — Mr Thos. Anderson wrote tendering his resignation as a member of the Board, his business making it inconvenient for him to attend the Board meetings. The resignation was ac cepted; and on the motion of Mr Laing, seconded by Mr Young, Mr George Carey was appointed to take his place. Mr Carey being present, took his seat at the Board. The committee appointed at last meeting to invite and deal with tenders for the supply of road metal, reported that the tender of Mr Chas. Paganini had been accepted at 4s 3d per yard.— Approved. The agent for the Bank of New Zealand, Port Chalmers, wrote stating that a cheque for £193 5a 7d, being half-year's subsidy on rates, had been received and placed to the credit of the Board. Mr Win. Heath wrote desiring the authority of the Board to erect swing gates at each end of the road running through section 40, block V, North Harbour and Blueskin.— The request was agreed to. Mr Heath also desired to be informed if any deviation of the district road had been taken at the top of his property. — The clerk was instructed to reply that the Board was not aware of any deviation having been taken. Messrs Farquharson and Henderson waited on the Board, and stated that the Provincial Government when taking the deviations on the Port Chalmers and Blueskin road promised that the old portions of road line should be given in lieu of the deviations taken : that promise had never been fulfilled ; and as they understood the Board was now the proper authority to deal with it, they desired that action might be taken with a view of giving them a proper title to the ground promised, in so far as it affected sections 19 and 35, block VI. The clerk was instructed to take what steps might be necessary with a view to complying with the request. Mr Henry Clark waited on the Board, and desired that the road leading to his place might be repaired. The inspector was instructed to examine the road, and report to next meeting. Mr John Muirhead forwarded hia account for contract number 4, and wrote desiring that the cheque might be made payable to him so soon as the work was passed by the inspector, as he would have it completed in the course of a day or two. It was resolved that this request be complied with, but that in future each contract must be passed by the inspector before the aocount i 8 passed for payment by the Board, Tenders for the following works were then considered : — Breakwater above Mr Mitchell's bridge: accepted, Mr James Adams, £18; work in Merchieton township : accepted, Mr James Martin, £13 19s. The inspector was instructed to examine and report upon the road between blocks I and 111, North Harbour and Blueskin. Accounts to the amount of £88 8s were passed for pajment,
