THE HOME WOOL MARKET.
Messrs Miles Bros, and Co. report on the London market for Colonial produce, under date July 4th, m follows :— WOOL. The second series of public sales of Colonial wools, which commenced on the 6th May, terminated on the 20th ult. Xhe following were the quantities catalogued :— B*lei. New Pouth Wales and Queensland .. 66,288 Port Phillip 90,192 Van Diemen's Land .. .. 8,56 d Adelaide 37,215 New Zealand .. .. .. 88,837 Swanftiver .. .. .. 6,651 Cape and Natal .. .. - 29,455 Total 807^198 The new arrivals amounted to 314,846 bales, of which 18,500 bales were forwarded direct from ship to Yorkshire and the Continent, making, with the 25,000 bales bought in and held over from the February- March series, a total available quantity of 321,846 b\les. About 80,000 bales have been withdrawn and bought in at these sales, and will stand over for August. The saled opened with a good Attendance of both Home and foreign buyers, and although the market value of wool ii stiil very low, aad acme clothiDg fleece parcels were heavy of sale, prices do not anow any marked decline from those ruling in Muoh, while superior scoured were, if anything;, rather firmer at the close. Germany has been purchasing very freely, while France, on the contrary, has merely supplied her immediate requirement!. For the next Bales, to commence on the 12th proximo, in addition to the 30,000 bales of old stock, there will probably be Some 300,000 bales for offer, all arrivals up to 4 o'clock on tiae opening night being available. There have beemeveral inquiries privately during the past week, and ye are pleated to find that a demand for merino wool has sprung up in the United Stats*.
