NEWS FROM ZULULAND.
From the fuller accounts received by Suez mail of the disaster at Isandula, no mor^ horrible picture can bo imagined. The Zulus, marching in rogular order, were on their way to invade Natal, when they suddeily came aero s Colonel Glyn's column. Though tho English were only 500 strong and their opponents 20,000, they kept them at bay for Beveral hours with tho fire of the Martini- Henry rifle. The ammunition failed, and tbe Zulus advanced with demoniacal yells and hideous gesticulations. Our troops gallantly resisted with tho bayonet, but the soldiers of King Cetewayo bore down these weapons by hurling on them the coipses of their own con?rad9B. Then canjo a scries of desperate hand-to-hand struggles, in which the English were literally hewn down by the Zulu assegais. Meanwhile the Zulus had also fallen upon the baggage guard, and posBpps"d themselves of a large store of the rifles. Within two hours from the tirce when the enemy's skirmihers were first seen thera was not a single white man left in tho camp. It is iwhapV'ilv certain that the British lofsoi on tbe Tustela River, instead of being, as had been said, leas heavy than was in tho first instance reported, aro infinitely more peiious. Of the Imperial army not fewer than 786 men and 51 ofticeis have fallen, Of the Colonial forces 110 white troops and 21 officers have been killed. Cetewayo is reported to have temporarily disbanded his forces, to allow opportunities foe gathering in the croj;S, and it is considered doubtful whether there will be apy invasion of Natal, as Cetewayo has already imprisoned hia brother for a vie lation of the King's orders not to cross the border. The news from the Transvaal was very disquieting, as there was considerable alarm felt there at the hostile attitude of the native tribes. ___-__—_——______■ TnE coldest-mannered people are frequently thoso who look for most warmth from othors, and when their expectations are not gratified they forget that the coolness they meet with is but a dim reflection of their own. •'' Dey Toaafc.— Teetotal one. , .
