Mr Henry Diuvbr (on behalf of the N.Z.L. and M.A. Co., Limited) reports for tho week ending 12th February as follows :— Fat Cattle.— The small supply of 87 head was yarded for to-day's sale, consisting of medium to good quality. Competition was fairly animated, and prices obtained were rather over last week's rates. Bullocks brought from £9 to £14 per h« aJ ; cows, from £7 to £9— equal, lor prime beef, to from 30a to 32s 6d per 1001b. Fat Calves Seven were yarded, and sold at satisfactory prices. Fat Sheep.— l6o3 penned. The trade having bought largely last week, bidding wag languid and sales difficult to effect, and prices showed no improyement on last quotations. We disposed of a few small lots at from J£d to 2d per lb , at which we quote mutton. Storts Cattle aud Store Sheep —We have no transactions to repoi t for the past week, but have placed^ Borne large lots of the latter under offer. »'\ Country Sales, Land.— On Saturday, the Bth instant, we sold 30 i-acie sections in thetownship of Clinton, at an average of £17 163 each, on account of b'ltzclarence Roberts, Esq Wool —We sold a small catalogue of farmers' lots this afternoon ; the attendance of buyers was not full, and biddings l.eked spirit ; it was with difficulty that former prices were obtained. Merino fleeces, both in grease and washed, were' in good demand, and brought very full rates ; the former sold at from 7£d to lOd, the latter from 13d to 15^d per lb, the last-named price being 1 from the stud flock of John Johnston, Esq., Kiihiku. Cross-br^ds birely maintained former rates, particularly Leicesters aud three - quarterbreds, which, if in at all heavy and cotton condition, brought very low prices. We sold greasy Leicestera, 6U to 6Jd ; three-quarter-breds, 6}d to 7^d; fine cross-breds from 8i to 9Jd; washed do, lljd to lJiji. ShespskiLS.— At our usual weekly sale on Monday we catalogued 1500 skins, which were fairly competed for, though without improvement in prices, the stormy weather preventing some fellmongers from buying their usual requirements. Cross-breds in wool sold at 3s 9d to is; lambs, lid to Is 41 each ; station skins, 4gd to 53d ; pelts, 5d to 9d. Tallow,— Small pircels of inferior tallow sold at 223 ', rough fat, 21s to 2is 6d. Grain.— Wheat market quite stagnant ; no business doing ; prices are nominal Oats : Market quiet ; old corn moves off in small parcels at 3s Gd to 3s 7d. The unsettled state of the weather has prevented new grain from coming to marker, dealers are without stocks, watting for arrivals of new grain. Barley : Malting s mples are inquired for, brewers getting low in stock ; fan? prices will be given for early samples. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report for tho week endiug 12th February : — Fat Cattle.— Only a medium supply came to hand, 81 head being yarded, the major portion of which was only of medium quality, owing to the extremely liroi ed number of prime quality in, prices i-howed uu upward tendency. We sold 35 head. Bullocks brought from £8 to £14 ; cows, from £7 10j to £11 ss— prices equal to from 30s to 32s Cd per 1001b for good quality, and 27s for medium. Privately we have placed 36 head at equal to 303 per 1001b. Fat Calves.— Five jarded, which we sold at from 36 < to 60 1 each. Fat Sheep.— Tha moderate number of 1704 was penned, but owintr to the trade being well .stocked from the over supply of last week's market, sales were rather difficult to effect. Nearly all, however, were sold at about equal to last week's quotations. Wo sold 834 cross-breds. Best quality brought from lls to 12* ; medium, 83 to 93— prices tquiva'ent to ljd to 2d per lb. Fat Lambs.— sß9 were p'^nued, which were all sold at an advance on last week's rates. We sold 80 at from 63 6d to 7s. Store < attle — We have inquiriei for grown cattle for paddock-fattening, but very few are offering. During the week we have sold 70 head young stock. Store Sheep.— There is a fair demand for young merinos and four and six-tooth cross bred wethers, but few are offering. We quoto merino wethers, four ■ and six-tooth, at from bi 6d to 6s ; do do, eieht-tootb, 1 ss ; merino owes, two, four, and six-tooth, 8s ; do do, full-mouthed, 4s to 4s Cd ; half-brads, four and sixtnoth, 7s 6d to 8-s; do, two-tooth, 6\ to 7s. At the abive quotations we have sold 3000 half-breds. '1 he trade wa< well rf presented. Prices ruled the same as bst week, Full-woolled merinos brought up to 4b 7d ; lambskins, 9d to Is 3d. Hides continue very dull of sale, and prices without any change. We have not told any during the week, but have delivered ICO previously contracted for. Tallow is in good request. We sold a few mixed lots at from £24 10s to £26 per ton, and rough at £21. Grain.— Wheat : Business quite at a stindstill. Oats are in very limited supply. We quote prime samples of old oats at 33 8d per bushel ; ordinary, 3s 6d to 3s 7d ; new do, on the spot, 3s. Barley : Good samples are inquired for. No tiansactions to report. Maclban Brothers report for the week ending February 12th, as follows : — Fat Cattle. —A small supply came forward for this day's market— viz., 87 head, all of which, with the exception of a few pens, were small and only medium quality. Notwithstanding this, competition was only fairly active, the principal buyers having full supplies on hand from the previous wef-k and outside transactions. At the yards we sold 26 heads prime quality at from £10 to £14 for bullocks ; »nd £8 to £10 10s for cows— equal to fully 30s per 1001b. Privately we ftold 37 head at quotations. jPat Calves.— Only seven head penned, which sold at from 35s to 50s each. Fat Sheep.— l 663, chiefly prime quality, were penned. This number, although small, proved much in excess of requirements, the trade having nude large purchases last weetc ; consequently sales were difficult to effect at a considerable reduction on pre- , viouß rates, aud about 300 wore held over. We cold on account .of Messrs Shand, Bruce, and Davidsop, 600, at from 9s 6d to lls 9d ; and turned out 234 Fat Lambs. — A fair supply, both as regards number and quality, came to hand. 689 were penned, but met with about the worst sales of the seas m. We sold 80, at from 7» 6d to Bs. Severals pens were tiken by graziers at & very low figure. Store Sheep. — We have several choice lots offering, and note a fair demand for young merinos and crosbreds. We have not, however, concluded any sales during the week. Quotations are without change. Store Cattle. — Weil-srown stores in forward condition are wanted in the Taieri, and would command full prices. We quote two to four-year-old bullocks ftt £5 10s to £7 10s ; cows, £3 10s to £5 ; mixed mobs, at £3 to £3 10s. > fountry Sales.— We would direct attention to our gale at Mr Kennedy's farm, Saddle Bill, on Tuesday, 18th instant, of dairy cattle, growing crop, &c , &c. Wool; — We have not held a sale since date of our last, but on Friday, 14th instant, will submit about 500 bales to auction, Including several very choice small clips from the South. At a sale held to-day, the bidding was not very spirited, but prices obtained ruled about the level of last week's quotations. The London February sales open on the 18th instant, and the result of the opening will, be awaited with much Interest. Sheepßkins.— Our usual weekly sale was held on Monday last, when we catalogued about 850 skins The demand was slack, and prides were a shade easier. Green pelts brought 4d to 6d ; dry skins, from Is 0d to Ss 6d ; erreon lambskins, Is 3d to Is Hi. Hides and Tallow —None offered. Grain.— The market has been exceedingly quiet, in fact no business has been done in wheat during the week, nor are there any inquiries. Oats have met with a fair demand, and small parcels move off, on arrival, at 3s 6d to 3s 8d for good to fine feed ; stook small. Barley is out of the market. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. report for the week ending 12th February as follows j— . Fat Cattle.-i-86 came forward of medium quality. Although the number was small, prices showed no advance on last week's quotations.. We sold 21 head on account of the Henley Estate Company and other vendors' at— bullocks from £9 to £12 10s ; cows, £7 to £12, or equal to 82s 6 i per lOOlbs for prime, 27s 6d medium. Fat Calves.-~Five were penned, and sold at 27s 6dto 88s, according to quality. Fat Sheep. — l'he moderate supply of 1804 was penned. The trade having bought largely last week, sales were difficult to effect at a slight reduction on last week's prices., Best brought from 8j to 10s 6d ; medium, from 7a to 83, barely equal to 2d per lb. Fat Lambs — 400 were penned, and sold at from 6s to 8s 6d, according to 6izo and condition. Store Cattle.— Prices remain unaltered. We have no transactions to report. Store Sheep.— We have .inquiry for sound young Sheep of all classes, and any offering find ready purchasers. We quote cross-breds at from 6s 6d to 7s Gd ; merino, 4s to 63. We sold privately 1400 at above prices. Wool.— We will hold our next sale on Friday, the 14th instant, when we will submit a large catalogue of washed and greasy crosa-bred and merino wools for positive sale. Sheepskins.— We held our usual weekly sale at our stores on Monday last, when we catalogued some 1200 skin=, which we sold at— cross-breds from 2s 6d to 3s 6d ; merino, 2a 6d to 3s sd ; station skins, in bales, from sjd to 6sd per lb. Grain.— Wheat remains unaltered, and prices are only nominal. We quote best milling 3s 7d to 4s ; inferior and fowls' feed, 2s 2d to 3s 3d. Oats are slow of sale at 3s 6d to 33 9d.
