CANTERBURY v. OTAGO. (By Telegraph.) (from our own correspondent.) Christchdroh, February 12th. The return match commenced yesterday was resumed" to-day. Two Canterbury wickets fell quickly, and the Otago men felt hopeful. The two Fowlers made matters lively, however, by stealing sharp runs until the left-hander was removed by his partner. The way the Canter-( bury wicket-keeper treated the bowling was a caution, every pitched-up ball going to the boundary, and it was only smart fielding prevented him making more: Haskell missed him when he had made 4 only. Turner also helped the score, two leg hits producing him 6. The total reached 160, the last 70 runs having been made in about an hour. Barton and Strode, two Dunedin boys at Christ's College, played in place of Austin and Clark, and Rose took Glen's place. Otago's second innings was a miserable display. By way of variety Neilson went on with over-arm slows, and the men were caught off him one after the other. Paramor allowed himself to be stupidly run out, when by putting his bat in the crease he might have saved his wicket. Turner's catches were splendid specimens of fielding. For the one by which he disposed of Crawshaw he had to reach from short-slip, behind the wicket-keeper, to < the batsman s leg side. In the follow-on Neilson employed eight bowlers, most of whom got wickets; Beard bowlad seven maidens running. Paramor this time played steadily, and was out with 29 to hiß credit, made in his best style. The following are the scores and analyses of the match, which was drawn, though much hi Canterbury's favour, as Otago had still 32 runs to get to save a one-innings defeat, and only three wickets to fall: —
