SELLING LIQUOR ON SUNDAY.

At the Port Chalmers R.MT. Court on the 26th, George Neill wascharged with supplying a bottle of champagne to Wi lam Russell on Sunday, the 9th instant. Defendant pleaded guilty under extenuating circumstances, and was fined £5, and costs. George Chick, of the Jerusalem Coffee-house, charged with selling: liquor on Sunday, was amo fined £6George Dodson. who was represented by Mr Joyce, was also charged with supplying beer to William Russell on Sunday, the 9th inst. — After hearing the evideuce, the Bench reserved judgment. William Fitzgerald, of the Railway Hotel, was ! charged with supplying W. Insley with a bottle of whisky on Sunday, tbe 9th inst.— Mr Joyce defended, and their Worships dismissed the information, remarking there waa no charge to answer. Thomas Mac^uire, of the George Hotel, was charged with supplying Thomas Moore with a glass of sherry on Sunday, the 9th inst.— The case was dismissed, Moore having heen invited by a resident in the hotel to drink with him. At the conclusion of theao cases, Mr Joyce addressed the Beuch, requesting their Worships would mitigate the penalties inflicted, which was accordingly done, a fine of 40s being imposed in each case in lieu of £5.
