THE NEW VOLUNTEER DRILL SHED.

Immediately upon the close of j the Town Hall ceremony, the different Volunteer companies fell into fours, and headed by the Head -quarters and Artillery Bands marched along Princes Street to Dowling Street, and thence down that street to its junction .with Macandrew Street, where preparation had been made for the ceremony of the laying of the foundation stone of the new Drill Shed. Upon arriving at the spot, the Volunteers formed into line around the platform, and officers having been called to the front, took up their positions directly in front of the stone. There were a large number of citizens present.

The ceremony was conducted by his Worship the Mayor.
