EVENING THOUGHTS. When the shadows of the *renbg Come creeping slowly on, And the stillness all around ua Proclaims that day is gone, And we hear the distant murmur Of wavelets toft and low ; Then we think of the dear ones. We loved long ago. When the twilight long has faded * Into the still, calm night, And all the landscape round ua ; Is bathed in pale moonlight : We think of daya departed, Of friends we need to know ; And we fancy we nee them Ab they were long ago.
