GREEN ISLAND COUNCIL.
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of ,the - above Council was hold in the Council Cham- , bers, Green Island, on Tuesday evening last Present: The Mayor (Mr C. Samson), and\ Councillors Pinkerton, Gray, and Runicman.;, 4 / The minutes of the previous, meeting 'were ' read and confirmed. • •< ■" - • • A letter was received from the Colonial Secretary, asking for the return of, cost of valuation made under the Eating Act, 1876* and acknowledging the receipt of the' Town • Clerk's letter notifying the election of Mr Samson as Mayor.— The Mayob stated that he haa returned the cost of valuation as requested. The consideration of calling for tenders' for'* 1 , the supply of metal was deferred till the next ' meeting of Council ' ■•*' >'>'•■* The Clerk was" instructed to write to the Minister of Crown Lands, asking for thto'iendowment for the Corporation of • Green Island. - ... It was resolved that barriers be erecteclat ." the bridge in Runciman street, and also in Westland street. Mr Gbay proposed that tenders be called for breaking metal in Runciman street.— Referred to the Works Committee to report. . It was proposed by Mr Geay, and seconded by Mr Pinkerton, that a deputation consist- 1 . ing of the Mayor, and Messrs Runciman and-/ M'Cabe wait upon the proper < authorities ito;? have the railway crossings pub in proper/ re., pair. — Carried. > -:<•.. , >^ ( #> ' Accounts amounting to L 9 6s 6d werepassecL ' The purchase of, necessary furniture forrthe Council Chambers was'left in the hands' of tfie - Mayor and Mr' Pinkerton.' • # Resolved that an advertisement be inserted ' in the Star, setting apart' 'two afternooni-in 11 , which the Collector will be in attendance to'i collect outstanding rates. It was resolved that in future the Clerk ,'give ' Councillors notice, of every regular meeting ' three days before such meeting, as required by ' the Ordinance.'
