DUNEDIN WOODWARE.
The Sydney Morning Hearld of the 9th ult., in referring to the Agricultural Society's Exhibition, has the following :— " Among the exhibits which were received at too late a period to come into competition are a number of specimens of woodware manufactured at the New Zealand Woodware factory of Messrs Guthrie and Larnach, of Dunedin, The specimens comprise ohurns, buckets, washing tubs, hay rakes, axe and pick handles, knife boards, etc.-, of New Zealand woods, got up in a style that would probably have competed most successfully with the Canadian wares and those of our American " cousins. We understand that the firm will be reoomtaended to forward them to the Queensland Exhibition, so as to show our' neighbours how the abundant white woods of that Colony may be utilised. The exhibits are accompanied by photographs of the spacious premises of Messrs Guihrie and Larnach, and a representation, of the interior, with portraits of the very numerous band of workmen in the employ 'of the firm." Another paragraph has the following reference to the same subject : — "New Zealand, whose almost total absence from the great muster of colonies at the Metropolitan Exhibition had been a cause of regret, has made an appearance this morning. It is a fair and true illustration of the old adage — 'Last thought not least.' The exhibits forwarded through Messrs Learmonth, Dickerison, aud Co., are from the firm of Guthrie and Larnach, of Dunedin, New Zealand, aud consist of woodware of most exquisite fiuish, comparing most favourably with the very best description of goods of similar nature sent from Canada and America.
