OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was I held on Friday, 13th inst. Present Messrs Anderson (chairman), Henderaon (treasurer), M'Donald, Marshall, Newlands, Darroch, Ross, Russell, Wateon, Morton, and Mitchell. The following sums were appropriated for roads :— AUday, £100, between Mr A. Marshall's gate and Mr Cruickshank's ; £70 for Woodlands' road, from Mr Mann's to Otepopo Bridgo ; £60, from Hill's corner to Woodlands road, via the Cemetery ; £10, from Mrs Cameron's gate to property behind the Royal Hotel. Messrs Anderson and Marshall to accompany the Engineer when laying off the work. Mr Henderson reported that the Sydney members had met the Kakanui ones, relative to the deviation of the Inchholme Main District Road, but had come to no decision, and moved — That the discussion be adjourned till a map of the district be obtained. The motion was seconded by Mr Marshall, and carried. The Clerk was instructed to procure maps of the blocks forming the northern boundary of the district ; also, to write to the Resident Engineer, calling his attention to the impassable state of the road leading to the Maheno Railway Station. The following tenders were then opened —For Contract No. 47 : Clark andM'Gillivray, £80 os ; James Hill, £70 113 8d ; Hugh Wallace, £70 Us 8d j Alexander
Gilchrist and Co., £72 14a 8d ; Carl Diehl, £76 19a 7d. For Contract No. 48: James Hill, £109 13a 4d ; Hugh Wallace, £113 63 8d ; Alexander Gil. Christ and Co., £105 6s 4d ; Carl Diehl, £118 8s Bd. For Contract No. 49 : David Heron, £70 12s 6d. Mr Henderaon moved— That the tenders of Messrs Hill, and Gilchrist and Co. be accepted for Contracts 47 and 48 respectively, and failing their being taken i up, that the Clerk accept the next lowest. Seconded by Mr Ross, and. carried. Mr Mitchell moved— That fresh tenders be invited for Contract 49. Seconded by Mr Newlands, and agreed to.
