NEW ZEALAND STATISTICS. [By Telegraph.]

Major Atkinson, the Premier, writes to the New Zealand Times a letter (apparently a copy of one written to the Agent General) m reference to certain New Zealand statistics published in Westgarth's Circular for January, 1877. He first points out that the Circular publishes the amount of New Zealand revenue for 1873-4 instead of that for 1876. The table in Westgarth's Circular made out that the revenue of New Zealand for 1875 was L 1,677,626/ while that of Victoria was L 4,236,423. The Premier, quoting from New Zealand statistics, shows that the receipts in New Zealand for 1875 ? mo^l t0 L2 > 841 > 93 3, instead of only L,1,b77,b2b, as compared with theL4,236 423 received in Victoria. He also poicts out that although there was a note in the circular stating that the amount given as New Zealand revenue was ex Provincial revenues, still that left an error of L 30.000. He requested the Agent General to make a personal explanation to Mr Westgarth, and get him to rectify the error pointed out, and also to inform him that he can obtain s»U statistics of the Colony, and information relating to its progress, at the Agent General's office.
