THE DUNEDIN HEBREW SCHOOL.

On Sunday, the 25th inst., the annual examination of the Jewish children attending the Dunedin Hebrew School was held at the School-room, in the presence of a large number of the parents and friends of the pupils. Mr SJaurice Joel presided, and distributed the prizes. The school, which has',acarcely been established two years, has, we are informed, proved very successful, great progress having been made •by the pupils, especially the girls, and the result was highly satisfactory, reflecting credit on the head master and. the honorary assistants. ■ After the distribution of the prizes, Master Baume presented the Rev. 8./Lichenßtein, on behalf of the boys, with a handsome ebony and bronze inkstand, as a slight testimony of their esteem. The gift was feelingly acknowledged by the rev. gentleman. Mr E. Nathan moved a vote of thanks to the head master (the Rev. B. Lichenstein) and the honorary teachers, and highly complimented them on the nnmistakeable advancement the scholars had made, and the great efficiency attained in the Hebrew language and literature. The business concluded with the usual vote of thanks to the chair. The following is the prize-list and donors :—: — BOTS. First Class —Ist prize(the gift of Mrß. Isaac).
