SOUTH DUNEDIN COUNCIL.
The usual weekly meeting of the South Dunedin Council was held on Monday. Present — The Mayor (Mr Maloney), and Messrs M'lntyre, Heffernan, Thomson, Hodges, and Sutcliffe. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A communication was received from, the National Bank to the effect that, in accordance with instructions, LISOO worth of the Council's , debentures had been disposed of at 90 per cent., and that the proceeds, amounting to L 1350, had been placed to the' credit of the Council. A letter was received from the Treasury Department, Wellington, enclosing a cheque for L 79 6s 9d, being the amount of subsidy, due to the Council for the past three montns. On the motion of Mr Hodges, seconded by Mr Sutcliite, it was resolved— " That Mr G. W. Elliott be allowed 1 per cent, commission on the negotiation made with ihe National Bank for an overdraft of LIOOO. ■ Mr Hodges proposed, and Mr M'lntyre seconded — "That the Inspector be instructed to draw up specifications for the formation of Melbourne road to the Anderson's Bay Road, and that tenders be called for the work." Carried. . Mr Sutoliffe moved, and Mr M'lntyke seconded—:" That, in reply to Mr Wybef's request as to forming a culvert on part of his premises, the Council agreed to provide the gravel and give him permission . to do tho work, subject to its being carried on to the satisfaction of the Inspector." Carried. Mr Hodges proposed, , and Mr M'lntyke seconded — "That the tender of Messrs Williams and Hobbs be accepted for cleaning- the main ditches at Is lOd per chain ; and that the tender of Mr Robert Langley, for cleaning ditches in East, North, and South Wards, be accepted at Is 2d, Is, and lOd per chain respectively." Carried. Mr Hodges proposed, and Mr Heffernan seconded— " That the Inspector be instructed to have all culverts in the municipalityv needing repair attended to ; and that he also report at next meeting as to what new culverts may be required." Carried. -It was also resolved that the formation of Stafford, and (Jargill streets with rotten rock should be proceeded with. On the motion of Mr Sutcliffe, seconded by Mr Thomson, it was resolved that the Council's overdraft, together with interest, at the Colonial Bank, should be paid. This concluded the business, and the Counci adjourned,
