PORT CHALMERS COMMERCIAL SCHOOL.
At the opening of the proceedings, Mpnsieur Bellemm explained that he had, during the last fortnight, tested to their utmost the cap* ability of the pupils in the different branches, and would place the result before the paren's and visitors. It would only remain for him to convince those present that his report' Avas a true one. To obtain that object, slips of paper wore handed to the visitors on which they wrote the words they wished spelt by the pupils, the sums to be worked on the black 'board, and co on for the other branches; in , all cases, the visitors selecting the pupils they wished interrogated, thus proving beyond all doubt the truthfulness of the report. The children acquitted themselves very well indeed, and giving proof of careful training.
