SYDNEY CHESS CLUB TOURNAMENT.
Not much progress has been made in this contest, owing, perhaps, to the tardiness of some of the competitors in coming to the scratch. We consider it rather unfair that gentlemen who ,come several miles to play a match game should be met with refusals by those who " don't feel in the humour," or who " think it rather too late to commence." The following is the result of the games played since onr last notice :— Abley, who is making a good start, has defeated Spencer and Seldon (2 gamea) ; Schofield beat M'Clelland without much difficulty ; Lea and Russell have an interesting adjourned game, and " humble Faber" has got Crane in trouble in an unfinished game. The majority of the competitors have not yet put in an appearance. — Town and Country Journal.
