UNIVERSITY CRICKET MATCH.

The Oxford and Cambridge cricket match commenced at Lord's on Monday, the 2Sth June, the day before the mail left. The respective teams were thus composed : — Cam* bridge : Messrs Blacker, Greenfield, Hamilton, Longman, Lucas, Lyttelton, Macan, Patenon, Sharpe, Sims, and Smith. Oxford: Messrs Briggs, Buckland, Campbell, FoordKelcey, Game, Lang, Pulman, Ridley, Royle, Tylecote, and Webbe. It is probable that never during the history of the match have there been two better or more evenly matched elevens than these, and the issue of the match must be said to be extremely doubtful. Cambridge has the ,better all-round batting team, and Oxford the advantage in reapect of bowling, and at the same time their field ia better organised. In the morning, although the rain was excessive, there was a dense mass of spectators on the ground waiting for play to begin. The rain, however, continued to fall, when, about one o'clock, the tarpaulingg were removed from the wickets, and Cambridge took the field. At night Oxford had scored 188 for the loss of geven wickets, and on the following morning the last wicket fell for a total of 200 runs. The first innings of Cambridge commenced at noon on the 29th, and at one o'clock, it is reported that two wickets had fallen, 69 were up, aai Lasas and Blacker were batting
