London, August 15th. The money market is easier. The Bank of England reserve is stronger. Heavy rains interrupt harvesting. Bazaine has arrived at Cologne. Arrived.— Glenlora, from New Zealand ; Lady Jocelyn, from Melbourne; Gowan, Jung Frau, and Star of the North. ' August 18th. _ The London colonial wool sales opened this evening. The anivals amounted to 260,000 bales, and upwards of 5000 were offered. The attendance of home and foreign buyers was large, and biddings commenced with great spirit, and closing rates of last sales well maintained. Arrived.— Warwick, Harvest Home, Earl of Mar, and Kellix Java. August 19th. The death of Sir William Fair bairn is announced, August 22nd. At the wool sales, at the opening, cmnpetitiou was well maintained. Prices continue very firm. . . The corn market has experienced a considerable fall. The weather is favourable for harvest of Canterbury, has received the Order of the Iron Cross. August 24th. Austria and Russia have assented to the recognition of Spain ia puisuauce of the agreement made by the three Emperors at Berlin for common action on all diplomatic questions. Discount, 3 per cenfc. August 2oth. Austria recognises the Spanish. Government, but Russia refuses to do so. At the wool sales, the competition continues extremely vigorous, and prices show a general advance, compared with previous salts, of a halfpenny to a penny halfpenny. Foreign arrivals of wheat are abundant, and prices have fallen. At the sales of new wheat yesterday, purchases were made reluctantly, at a reduction of seven shillings. Paris, August 18th. A Bouapartist deputy has been elected for Calvados by a, large majority. Singapore, August 20th. A rupture is threatened between China and Japan on account of the Formosa expedition. China is mating immense preparations for war.
