TO THE EDITOR,

Slit — Much is written ia your columns relative to education ; may I ask you to insert tho proceedings that are going on in this place with respect to it. Government is pitying its moiety towards the children beiug instructed, and they are vow, and lm vo. boon for tho last niue or ten weeks, running the street nnd neighbourhood, to tho annoyance of the inhabitants, losing what they have learned, in consequence of the school* house being closed— it is said, for want of a teacher. It is proper that notice should be taken by those appointed by Government to know where abuses are creeping in, and I write this with the intention that they mny have the affair looked into, as the Committee, three of whom are a Mr Hay, Mr Donaldsou, and a Mr Flynn, appear to rule that Board, fora disgraceful thing occurred on Saturday last. Mr Griffin, who sends four children to the school, called a public meeting at the Schoolhouso to enquire where the default lay, and the three aforesaid gentlemen of the Committee took possession of tho building, locked themselves in, and would not allow it to bo hold, even excluding another member of tho Board, a Mr Fmsor, who has children that attend the School, and wished to have it investigated. Now, lam loth to trouble you ; but, to prevent public institutions being abused, and being made too much of a benefiting concern to those who ought to nee nil thingo eoaseoted, duly carrier!
