Garibaldi is suffering from serious wounds. There is an improbable rumour that Victor Emanuel has offered to restore the Quirinal to the Pope. A. league was rumoiired to have been formed by Franco and Spain to secure the Pope's independence. Spain denied the truth of the rumour. Spain sends a fleet to Venezuela. The filibusters are protested against.
