The dinner at Christchurch in celebration of the Scott Centenary was held on Wednesday evening last, and was attended by about 100 persons, principlly Scotchmen. Mr John Anderson was in the chair. The toast of the evening was proposed by Dr Turnbull, and that of "The Contemporaries of Sir Walter Scott" by the Rev. C. Fraser. A number of other speeches were made and toasts were drunk, the proceedings being varied by the performances of a band of music, as well as oy selections from Scotch airs played on the bagpipes by Mr Dunnett, whose efforts, we are told, were repeatedly applauded. After the regular business had been got through, " the remainder of the evening," according to the Press, "was devoted to conviviality, an 4 the company broke up at an early hour."
