Fat bullocks are at 20s per cwt, and store cattle at £4 to £5 each. Fat sheep are quoted at 10s, store merinos at 4s, and pigs at 2d per lb, alive.

Captain Preece exchanged -hots with Te Kooti on the s)tb. and on the next day. while following up his tracks, found a letter from Te Kooti to the Government, in which he expressed hib desire to be left 1 unmolested, and allowed to live and plant. The letter was signed, "From your enemy, Turuki." August 15th. Mr Maddock, solicitor, publicly horsewhipped Mr Lord, Editor of the Telegraph, at the Scott Centenary Festival touay.
