We have , examined the, different .lands under offer for a race-course, and report^ Ist. The land at the Forbury, under, Qffer from Mr Jeffreys,, though all that could be desired for situation, is, in our opinion, entirely unsuitable, there being httle, or no drainage from same. 2nd. The land at Anderson!* Bay, under offer from , Mr Begg, ia considered by your Committee easy of drainage and suitable for the pur-pose-required. The same is offered at a rental ofr 30s per acre, with, a purchasing clause at the rate of L3O per acre.' ' Mr Stratton, a qualified surveyor, has been employed by your Committee to examine the land, and his report is favourable, and annexed hereto.-— Caleb Moons." The report was received. A conversationaldisoußsion then ensued, several gentlemen present shewing that the Olub and the object of the meeting were favourably regarded by many" of the citizens, who had also expressed themselves willing to become shareholders. It was further stated that there was great probability of pecuniary aid being rendered by the Government, if they were applied to. Ultimately a Committee was appointed to frame a report, and to take steps for forming a Joint Stook Company. It was also proposed that the Commit* tee should be empowered to close with* Mr Begg ; but it was finally decided that the proposition would be adopted with greater advantage at the close of a future meet* ing to bo held shortly. Tbis terminated the proceedings.
