WASTE LAND BOARD.

The usual weekly meeting of the Waste Land Board was held on the 11th instant. The Chief Commissioner was in the chair, and Messrs Reid and Hughen were prosent. The minutes of the previous mooting were read and confirmed. Mr Gillies applied on the part of Chas. Hammond, to purchase quarry reserve, section 73. Block 11, Waikonaiti district. Mr Qill^s oxplaincd that the land had been used as a quarry, but that the stone had all been worked ont of it. deferred to the Govcrnmonfc for report of Road .Department. Mr Gillies applied on the part of Mait- • land Bros., to purchase half of section 19, Block IX, Waitahuna East. Ho explained that a road was required in that pkea, and that ono could bo made along tho main ridgo leading to the whole of the neighbouring country. J. D. Feraud's application to purchase sections 41 to 45 and 67 to 69, Block 11, Leaning Rock, held, under agricultural lease (section 45, Education Reserve), was referred back to the. Government. The applications for runs 416, 418, 423, 431, and 435 were refused. 416, 418, 423, and 431 to be put up at auction, per clause 94, Waste Lands Act, on Thursday, Sept. 23rd, the upset price to be one halfpenny per acre, subject to assessment as made and usual terms of land regulations, at the Land Office, Dunedinv Wm. M'llroy's application for an occupation license to quarry, stone, Block 111, Oamaru, was granted.
