TOKOMAIRIRO RACES.

The Tokomairiro Bares commenced on Thursday, and, from the "Bruce Independent" we learn that the meeting was very succesful, and the running good. On Thursday, there were five races, •with the following results : — Maiden Plate, of 30 boys.. weight for ape, distance mile and a-half — CWatera'sb p. Warwick, 1; A. M'Laren's b. g. liberty, 2. The Tokoroairiro Handicap of 60 boys., 3 miles, brought four to the post, the winners bping— J. Ellis's b. g. Glengarry, 1; J Ellis's bra. h. The Miller, 2. In the Trotting Handicap five ran, D. Carton's b. g. Major winning, and T. Bradley's Tapioca taking second place. The "race for the Settler's Purse was ihe bestof the day — C. Watew's b. c. Warwick, 1 : A. M'laren'eb.g. Liberty, 2; P. M'GilFs Black Bess, 3. A protest was lodged against Warwick, on the ground that he was not the bona fide property of Mr Waters, Bnd be was disqualified. The following was the result of the Hack Race :— T. Pollock's Werrimac, 1 ; R. Cotton's Dandy, 2 ; and J. Campbell's Creamy, 3. Merrimac was protested »gain*t as not being a back* and being disqualified, Danny was declared the winner. The first event ef the second day wat> the Hurdle Race, in which H. Prince's Garryowen came in the winner; T. Thomson's br g Ottley beirg second. In the race for the Town Plate the following was the result :— C. Waters's b g Warwick, 1 ; D. Carson's b g Schoolboy, 2; J. Ellis's b g Glenszarry, 3. The race for the Farmers' Plate ended as follows :— A. M'Luren's b g Libeny, 1; P. M'Gxll's Black Bess, 2 ; b. Frach's eh g, 3. The Ladies' Purse was taken by D. Carson's b g Schoolboy, T. Pollock's Merrimac being second. K. Cotton's Gipsey won the Pony Race ; and for the Consolation Stakes, Miller and Stockman ran, the first-named winning. A Hack Race was got up, and ended the meeting.
