The shipping arrivals at Port Chalmers on Tuesday included the ship Warrior Queen and the barque Princes9 — the former from London, with a 'arge general cargo, and 70 passengers ; the latter with a considerable addition to the present scant supplies of American merchandise. The Warrior Queen, which is the only vessel advised as having sailed from Lmdon in the month of Novem ber, has made a comparatively rapid passage to this port, arriving with her original complement of passtngers, all well.
The first meeting of the Otago Medical Boa-d is appointed to be held in the Provincial Secretary's Office, on Wednesday, the 7th February, at noon.
The " Waikouaiti Herald" reports that, " A meeting was held at Beal'a Royal Hotel, ■on Monday evening last, convened for thpurpose of discussing the best means to adopt in order to secure a first-class race meeting this year. A number of our sportsmen and others interested were in attendance. After a desultory discussion it was resolved that as a prelimimiry step subscription lists should be printed and circulated amongst those desirous of promoting the forthcoming Races, with a view to ascertaining the amount of support likily to be obtairable in the district ; and a future meeting -will be culled at an early date, to further the matter, and take .more decisive steps therein."
