CRICKET.

The opening match of the Dunedin Cricket Club came off last Saturday afternoon, on the Recreation Ground South, the respective Bides being chosen by Messrs" Hope and Murison ; the latter gentleman having -won the tow, took his place at the wickets, accompanied by Mr Maddock, to face the bowling of Messrs Leea'and J. B. Bortoa. At fchia early perioj of the' season, it would perhaps be invidious to criticise the play too severely. a< the winter recess may naturally be supposed to have operated prejudicially to any brilliant display of cricketing talent; we will therefore content ourselves with appending the score :—
