By the s.B. Storm Bird, which arrive.! in port yesterday morning from the North, we have received Auckland papers to the 14th instant, and Taranaki papers to the 12bu. There is very little war news from Auckland. General Cameron,, who had been in town for a few days, was to leave on the 14th for the front, and it was reported that a grand move was shortly to be made on Mauugatautere, where the natives are suppled to be making active preparations for another stand. We are informed that the greater portion of the troops stationed at Raglan had been ordered to tie front, to occupy the positions already taken by the General, so as to enable him to have a larger number at his disposal. Tha Koheroa steimer had stuck on a snag in the Horatiu, and received some slight damage : Commodore Sir W. Wiseman was ou board at the time, engaged in surveying and sounding the river in order to ascertain how near the vessel could be carried to the track which leads to Maungatautere pa ; it was thought a landing place could be reached about three miles from that point. The military electric telegraph had been completed ns far as Rangariri, and the telegraph posts erected half-way to Ng3ruawahia. A skirmish is reported to have taken place at Maketu between the friendly natives and a body of natives from the Eiat Coast, in which two or three were killed; 200 troops had been sant from Tauranga to assist the friendly natives. The news from Taranaki confirms the report of the skirmish which we received by the Wonga Wonea, full particulars of which will be found in another column. A detachment of artillery, cansisting of 30 non-commissioned officers aud men, under the command of Captain. Martin, with three Armstrong guns (short twelve plunders) were brought from Auckland to Tarauaki by the Storm Bird.
