RETAIL PRICES.
Dunedin, March 24, 1864. The Arcade has been pretty well supplied with vegetables, especially carrots and turnips. Cabbages and cauliflowers are rather scarce, and the latter have advanced in price. Of celery there is a better supply. Apples and pears continue to come in, chiefly fiom Hobart Town, and prices are reasonable. The supply of grapes is very moderate. Fowls come in more freely, but' turkeys continue very scarce. Of eggs the supply is rather limited, 'ihe weather still interferes with fishing, and most kinds of fish are scarce! A few wild ducks have been brought in, and one lot of wild pigeons has come in from the Pine Hills. Bread and Flour.— Bread, Is to Is Gd, 4Hj loaf. Biscuit (cabin), 6d per lb. Flour, Gd. per Hi. Butchers' Meat.— Beef, Is. perlb ; mutton, lOd. to Is. ; lamb, 10s. to 11s. per quarter ; pork, Is. to Is. 3d. per tt> ; veal, Is. to Is. 3d. per lb. Dairy Produce.— Bacon, Is. to Is. 6d.: butter, fresh, 2s. 3d. to 2s. Gd ; ditto, salt, Is. 4d. to Is. lOd. ; cheese, Colonial, Is. 6d. ; ditto, English, Is. 6d. to Is. Bd. ; eggs, fresh, 3s 6d to 4s. ; ditto, imported, 2s. 3d. to 2s. 6d.; ham, Is. 6d. to 25. ; milk, 8d per quart. Poultry.— Fowls, 10s. to 12s. per couple; ducks, 12a. per pair ; geese, 15s. to 18s. each ;
turkeys, 15s to 255; rabbits 4s. to 12s. per pair; riigeons, 6s. to Bs. per pair.
Wild Fowl.— Ducks, 7s to 8s per brace; leal, 3s to 4s per brace; pigeons, 4s 6d to 5s per brace.
Fish. — Barracoutas, Cd each ; flounders, 3s to 10s per dozen ; grojjers, 5s to 8s each ; ling, Is to 2s each : rock cod, Gd to Is each ; garfish, 4s to 6s per dozen; herrings, 2s to 3s per dozen; silver fish, Is to 2s (id per dozen ; eels, 8d to lOd per lb, crayfish, Gd to Is ench ; oybters, la Gd per dozen.
Fruit.— Apples, 3d. to Bd. per lb : ditto, dried, Od. ; apricots, none ; bananas none ; cherries, none; currants, none; gooseberries, none; nectarines, uoue : oranges, 3d. to 4d. each ; pears, Cd to 8d per m ; peaches, 2s per doz ; Sine apples, Is. to 2s each; plums, 6d to Is per ) ; lemons, 4d to 6d each ; raspberries, none ; strawberries, nons ; cocoanute, 6d each; grapes, Is 6d per lb ; walnuts Is 6d per lb. VEGETABLE3.~Artichokes, Is. each ; asparagus, none ; beans, broad, 2d per lb ; do, French, Gd perlb; cabbages, 4d. to Is. each; carrots 3d. per bunch; cauliflowers, Is. each; celery, none; cucumbers, 6dtols6deach; leeks, none ; lettuces, 2d. to 3d. each : onions, dried, 3d. to 4d. per lb; ditto, green, 4(1. per bunch ; parsley, 4d. per bunch ; pie melons, Is. to Is. Bricks, ordinary, at kiln, £4 per thousand. Lime, 363 to 40a per hhd.
