Intelligence from the <iold Fields is to hand to the 15th instant: —
Mount Benger, sth March. — During the week now ended the river has fallen from two to three feet, nnd should the fall continue at the sime rate for another week, many of the hfach claims will be workable. The population is steadily setting 'n on the river, and beach claim* are much sought, after, and for this rfiison I would strongly advise miners tv look after their claim?.
A creat deal of work is beiner do-c on the banks, more particularly m tbe immediate neigh bourhood of Roxburgh.
Wages ns high as L 5 and L 6 are heinjr made by some of thole who are tunnellinpr, The further they get in, in some parts, ihe richer tbe finds are, Many parties are doing rcmarkabiy well on the Vomchaka River, sluicing. No particular information by way of Serpentine. Wages continue to be made. The total popu'aUon ia about 2:100, of whom 300 are not engaged in mininpr. Hamilton's, slt March. — The weather has been very etormy for a few days. Deep sinking claims at Hamilton's are turning out well, as is also the case ai the Nine Mile Rush, wheiein some claims the wa*h dirt varies from four feet to eight feet. At rllndon a claim nt the back of the township is turning out well. I h»ve granted an extended claim toFnis?r and party, for diverting the course of th« Taie'i at Hiudon. The total }.opulation is about 6000, of whom 1200 are otherwise engaged than in mining. Nokomai, sth March. — The miners at the; Nokomai continue to woik with fair success. A rush has taken place to Cumberland Gully, where the run 01 gold has again been struck with £ o °d proapectß, Some lich patches have been obtained about half way up the Nevis. '1 he population is about ,1490, of whom 120 are not; engaged in mining. Mount Ida. sth March. — The number of miners at and near the township of Vincent has considerably increased, but nothing has orcuired cnlling for special t'omnunt. 'J he weather has been very broken, and snow has already made its appearance on the adjacent hills. Tbo population is about 2300, including Dunstan Cre k.
