Tyranny in Baltimore.— The Times new orrespondent in the Worth,, who ha« been hitherto decently fair, draws a melanchojy picture ot the condition of Baltimore. As. {his city is hostile, and oommxnAa the best line of communication between Washington and the North, it has .all along been necessary f> hold it- dawn, by military ' force, to threaten the city with batteries and place gunboats in the liter. 'Unfortunately the Government entrusted the necessary power to General Bchenk, who uses it like an Austrian, punishes opinion as well as revolt, and lets . fri»nds of the Union do pretty much as they like, The extraordinary latitude allowed to. womon in America niakea this abssnee of justice all the more bitter, as this shocking anecdote-, proves ;— " On o»e of her late visit* the wife of n Yankee schoolmaster walked into the ward of the Confederate wounded with ft Federal flip in her hand, and held the o) noxious, stars and stripes over the bed of a dying sufferer, saying, as she waved the rustling silk iv his very face, ' There, my friend, you were lo^h to live under tbjs glorious banner ; it must be refreshing to you at least to die under it !"' The story will, we trust, be refuted; but enough remains to show thitf in -America, as in Europe* the least just of GoTenaments is that of a WiUtary satrap— 3p«tf«far« \ • •
