Markets continue steady. Flour is inquired after fnr shipment. Butter slightly declined, and sold at Isßd. Sugars have declined fifteen to twenty shillings a ton. Bombay sailed 26th January with Australian and Otago mails. She took fifty-three thousand ounces and sixty-seven thousand sovereigns from Melbourne, twenty thousand ounces of the gold were from Otago. Bishop Perry was amongst the passengers. The Bom- I bay took ten thousand ounces from Sydney, and one hundred and thirteen thousand sovereigns. \ Penny Daily Times stopped. Steam cultivation— second trial highly successful. An accident has just happened to a fishing boat. She had two men on board and was carried by the force ol the tide into the Rip, when she filled and sank. Mr Peacock, the signal- master, was watching them and gave the alarm. Life boat was immediately launched, and is now on her way to the scene of the disaster, to see if the men are floating. No hopes are entertained that the men will be saved.
