Acclimatisation of Animals.— The following notice from the Colonial Office was published in Tuesday's Gazette by order of the Lieutenant-Go-vernor :— " The Government of Victoria (Australia) having solicited the co-operation of tha Government in procuring some specimens of the wild game of this colony, with a view to their propagation in that country, persons having any to dispose of are re-que-<t-d to communicate the particu'ars thereof, eitner to this office or to the civil commissioners of their respective divisions stating the price at whi-h they will deliver them to the civil commissioner of any inland division, or at any seaport. The following" are the •nimals most desired at present, viz. :— The eland, koodoo, hartebeest, gnu or wildebetst, (common or grey), quagga, lebra, gemsbok, bontebok, blesbok, epnngbok. But there will be no objection to purchase others, such as the bushbuck, bluebuck, duiker, steeubuck, klipsprinsrer, bleskok of either variety, &c. It will be observed, that tbe object in view is to endeavor to acclimatise and propagate in Anstral ia some of the magnificent varieties of game of this continent; and his Excellency the Lieutenant-GovernmL-nt, desires to enlist the active services both of public functionaries and private individuals, to aid him ia procuring and forwarding some of the animals above described.'— Cope Argus. A Bbavs Woman. — A. woman named Daubenton, who had resided in a small house close to the river at Cha»s3y (Seine-et-Oise) was buried two days ago in the cemetery of that town with military honors. Pour aged woman held the corners of the pail, and the cortilge was headed by a company of the National Cuard, the drums beating a funernl dirge. The cause of such honors was her having, during her life, *ared no fewer than twenty-four persons from death by droiraing. On ODe occasion, when a bridge had broken down, she threw herself three times into the jriver, and a warn to the assistance of persons who h d fallen with it. For this she received a medal trom the French Humane Society, which she al < ays wore on her left side.
