There is a good supply of Timber in the neighborhood, and Coal is obtainable at Vulcan Point, a dLtanee of G miles. The town is intersected by the main roa'i to the Dunstan diggings fiom Waikonaiti, and is situate iv the centre of one of fie finest agricultural districts in this Province. Limestone of a superior quality to any hitherto obtained, has lately been discovered. From its situation at the junction of the main North, and South roads, with t/ie road to the interior and the diggings ; it is belieted Palmerston will become the centre of a large traffic, and is destined to be one of the chief inland towns of Ota^o.
