INQUEST AT WAITAHUNA,
[communicated. | An inquest was hel I this day, 30th Sept , at the Miners' Aims Hotel before Dr. Samuels, Coroner for the (101 l Fields, on tlieremafnsofalium.au being, found the previous day by a party of men who had descended the gully tor the purpose of getting some water. The gully in which the deceased was found i-= about two miles from Waitahnna, and, being steep, it is supposed he slipped down, and \%as unable to ribe owing to the severity of the weather. A man answering the bfime description was lost in July last, while on his wav from the Wool&hed to Waitahuna.
From the evidence of the witnesses- Harris, Lizaius, ami otiieis— it proved to be the same person. This man is Louis Woolf, a native of Germany, but many years in England. On his person was found £2 in iioli's, and about 5s in silver, besides several letters having th* address " Louis AVeolf, Post OfficGj Tokomairiro." The body was very much dpcotnposed. and hard to be reeoenised. The verdict of the jury was — " Died from cold and exposure."
