WAITAHUNA DEEP SINKING ASSOCIATION.

On Tuesday evening last, July Ist, a meeting was held of the Deep Sinking Association, at the Miners' Anns Hotel. Present: Dr. Samuels, Chairman, Messrs. Harris, Moran, and Johnson, hon. sec. The above gentlemen met for the puipose of taking into consideration the pecuniary state of affairs. The shaft is now sunk to the depth of 110 feet in the centre of this flat. A general impression in the minds of the miners is, that gold exists on ihe second bottom, to test which, the committee are particularly anxious to bottom the shaft. It was resolved: "That the Government he at once communicated with, soliciting a further grant of money, sufficient for the carrying out of the above object." The Secretary was instructed to prepare a subscription list, for the purpose of testing the feelin j of the miners on the subject. A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman, and the meeting separated.
